They weren’t wasting their creativity

FIRST PLACE: “Ferret wheel” by Reace Vavasour.

The Regional Waste 2 Art Exhibitionand Awards were held at the WesternPlains Cultural Centre in Dubbo lastweekend.

This is an excellent gallery space andthe organising committee are to be congratulatedon staging a really cheerfulexhibition, well-organised with very generousprizemoney.

Eleven section winners from our localcompetition were entered and the standardwas high.

Seventeen council areas across theCentral West participated, and worksfrom approximately 150 finalists were ondisplay.

The three judges, one from thePowerhouse Museum in Sydney, had adifficult job on their hands.

Congratulations to Gerard O’Brien,whose structure “home farm chook shed”took first place in the building/largesculpture category.

Reace Vavasour also took a first placein the high school functional category for“ferret wheel”.

Highly commended certificates wereawarded to both Conner Vavasour for hisentry “turntable” and The Library CraftyKids for their entry “Shorty the sheep’smob”.

So well done to all Oberon entrantsand special congratulations to the placewinners.

The theme for the 2015 Waste 2 Artcompetition will be scrap metal andBathurst will be hosting the RegionalExhibition.

So thinking caps on and get those creativeideas happening.
