BO PEEP: Cadet journalist Kirsty Davis recently visited local store Bo Peep in search of a unique gift for her friend s babies.Tis’ the season for the pitter patter of tiny feet, with many of us welcoming new arrivals from close friends and family.
A new baby is a unique blessing to everyone, with many baby showers and welcoming presents, it’s common for the expectant mother to receive a repeated gift; or five.
That’s why heading down to the City Plaza to visit Bek Strugnell at Bo Peep seemed a perfect option for me, as I looked for a gift for my good friend who recently welcomed twin baby boys.
As you walk through the door it feels as though you have stepped into Narnia, a warm rustic interior greets you with colour splashed from wall to wall.
With brands such as Minti, Munster, LittleHorn, Coco & Ginger, Rock Your Baby and the American answer to Bonds; Etiquette, I was flooded with choices.
One of the things that most attracted me to the store was the variety of options.
There were many clothing options for babies and children I had never seen before, from girl onesies with baby pink tutus, to alternative onesies with cartoon caricatures of bearded men and printed lions.
Bek was more than happy to help me find a personalised gift and wandered around the store with me.
Besides the obvious choice of quality clothing, Bo Peep has a wide variety of unique toys, from vintage rag dolls and teddies to children’s instruments.
One of my favourites was a Big Brother Mouse in a Box toy by Danish toy maker Maileg.
A match like box opens to find a cuddly mouse hidden inside with a blanket and pillow – absolutely adorable.
All the products are moderately priced, but based on just appearance you can tell it is custom quality.
I left with a beautiful Etiquette Clothiers vintage box with a bundle of baby boys socks at $39.
The great customer service, and the unique quality products will see me definitely return to Bo Peep.
