The semi trailer was travelling west on astraight section of the Great WesternHighway about 9.30am when it veered tothe wrong side of the road, through a fenceand overturned into a paddock beside theAdams Shed rural supplies store.

Heavy skid marks were evident on thegravel shoulder beside the east bound lanenear where the rig ploughed into the paddock.

Only one vehicle, a new Hyundai sedan, was on the carrier and it was crushedbeneath the upturned trailer.

The driver, a 23-year-old man from StMarys, was treated at the scene by Lithgowparamedics but did not require hospitalattention.

It was only luck there were no oncomingvehicles at that normally busy time ofthe morning.

It was the second serious incidentinvolving semi trailers in the district in aweek and came just hours before RoadsMinister Duncan Gay and Member forCalare John Cobb were due to announce$70 million in funding for a highwayupgrade through Hartley at a media calljust a few kilometres away at River Lett Hill.
