King extends lead in the 2014 Busselton Pigeon Racing

Graeme Bucket Ridge and Brett Slimey Stolp from Pendry Agencies.ON Saturday, July 5 sawpigeon racing saw the birds back at Yanchep with the event being sponsored by Pendrey Agencies.

It was yet another great weekend with perfect returns and close racing.

When clocks were read it was again Steve Almighty King who claimed yet another win and the jackpot pool to add to his ever increasing bank balance.

King has his birds firing beautifully and clocked a three-year-old Mealy Cock bird with a very quick 1535.342 metre per minute velocity.

This bird is yet another from his stable of legendary Collie fancier Reg Rinder and will now be set for the longer races coming up.

King has taken the overall lead at this stage of the season and in his current form will be hard to toss for the honour at seasons end.

Rotten Ron Blackwell improved from his run of fourthplacings to gain second spot when his beautifully presented Dark Pied Hen recorded 1529,962 mpm.

As in the previous two weeks the bird was from his Goodyer based birds and as these have a formidable reputation in long hard races Blackwell would be looking to spoiling the King party in coming weeks.

Peter Adams was the surprise this week when he gained another placing only seconds behind Blackwell.

His clock bird was again his tough five-year-old Blue Check Hen and this bird is fast getting a reputation for consistent performances but club members are sure Adams is a one bird wonder which will be put to the test in coming weeks.

The Brennan Clan were biting at the heals of Adams but needed another 10 seconds to gain a placing, and they had to settle for fourth, but still lost little ground in Flyer Of The Year calculations.

Their clock bird was a Light Blue Check Hen which was a gift from top Perth flyer Neil Mouritz.

The Sharminator in Ant Sharman in his return from holidays was in fifthplace but still less than twi minutes from the winner.

Sharman clocked a full sister to his legendary Red named The Pool King, and with the latter only one second behind his sister they could be a major force in coming weeks.

These birds are bred down from Bernie Higgins’ famous Red Adair family and probably the last of this line still available.

The Chapples in Dave and son Joe Trumpeter were the hard luck story of the weekend as they invited Graham Bucket Ridge, who sponsored the race to watch the birds trap and get a real idea for what happens on race day.

Unfortunately it back fired as the normally reserved Ridge started running around their backyard like a clown in the excitement of the birds arrival, and the shocked racers would not land till Ridge was removed from the yard.

This cost Chapple valuable time, but it was still a meritorious performance on register a velocity of 1522.439 mpm in the circumstances.

Next weeksees the birds venture to Coorow for the secondof the Pendrey Agency Events but it will be a brave flyer who invites Bucket Ridge back again.
